Our two sugar refineries in Aarberg and Frauenfeld are highly energy efficient. Process heat is generated by high-performance furnace systems. Our processing steps have all been adapted according to rigorous efficiency standards. Wherever possible, we use heat exchangers to supply energy to downstream systems. Swiss Sugar AG is constantly investing in innovative technologies in order to reduce our use of primary energy. One of these projects centers on the use of recovered waste heat at our refinery in Frauenfeld to dehydrate pulp pellets. This lowers our dependence on non-renewable energy and significantly reduces our greenhouse gas emissions.
