This introduces many advantages: As a taproot plant, the sugar-beet root extends into deep layers of soil. This enables it to access nutrients that are inaccessible to other plants. Thanks to the \u201cnutrient pump\u201d activity of the sugar beet, growers can limit their use of fertilizers. The deep roots also improve the general fertility of the soil. The various crops in the rotation plan are aligned to one another in a way that leaves them all better protected against pests and diseases.
